We are happy to announce that we are moving to a brand new location!
Some of you may be saying, "wait they're moving again". I know that it seems that we had just moved out of Warminster and to this location, it has been 3 years, but yes we are moving again. We are staying in Doylestown and moving down the road a bit. We are very happy about our new home in Cornerstone Health & Fitness Club. We will be located at 740 Edison Furlong Road, Doylestown, PA 18901.
We will be calling Cornerstone home starting January 1, 2012.
We are excited about this move because we will have so many more opportunities and options for you, our faithful patients. For some this move will be more convenient because you may already be members at the fitness center, this will even help you stay on track. I do hope that this is not an inconvenience for anyone; we only wish to better our services to better your health.
We hope to see everyone out at our new location in January to start off your year in one of the healthiest ways you can. We want to thank you all for sticking with us through these moves and changes and staying loyal to this office. The great patients we have are the reason why we do what we do.

How to Avoid Winter Snow-Shoveling Injuries
Posted on 2010-02-11 15:09:32
If you plan on shoveling your driveway, or being a good neighbor and taking on multiple driveways, here’s a little advice from the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress...
Every winter, millions of Americans grab their shovels and start digging their way out of the snow and into pain. Shoveling snow improperly can lead to potential spasms, strains, and aches. When shoveling snow, the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress suggests the following tips to maintain overall health:
- Always stretch and warm-up before shoveling
- Wear extra layers to maintain muscle warmth and flexibility
- Avoid sudden twisting and turning motions
- Limit the amount of weight lifted per load
- Bend your knees, not your back
– Take frequent breaks to avoid body fatigue
If you have come to our site too late, and you are already in pain, chiropractic rehabilitation is your answer for relief. Chiropractic Rehabilitation is the combination of the postural balancing and healing of chiropractic with the mobilization and strengthening of physical rehabilitation. This therapy involves the restoration of proper joint function of the spine and extremities and the strengthening of support muscles and soft tissue. You will function better and become stronger. Waiting too long with only make problems worse, so if you need relief and strength for the next snow storm, call us!

Backpacks and Back Pain
Posted on 2009-07-24 10:01:24
As kids head back to
school, parents are making that last run for school supplies. The most
important supply, and the one most over looked, is the backpack. “Backpack
weight is an established problem, and studies show that heavy backpacks can
lead to both back pain and poor posture”, notes the American Chiropractic
Association (ACA).
Overweight Backpacks can
result in numerous short-term and chronic health problems. Although the long
term effects of bag type and style are not known, what is know is that certain
backpacks can cause nerve pressure around the shoulders and neck leading to
pain and spasms. As a rule a child should not carry more than 10% of her/his
weight in their backpack. An 80lb child, no more than 8 lbs. According to the
Consumer Product Safety Commission, there has been nearly a 300 percent
increase in backpack-related injuries among schoolchildren over the last ten
years.
However, parents can help prevent problems before they start. The ACA offers the
following Backpack safety checklist for parents:
· Is the backpack the correct size?
"The backpack should never be wider or longer than your child's torso, and the pack should not hang more than 4 inches below the waistline. A backpack that hangs too low increases the weight on the shoulders, causing your child to lean forward when walking. Also, a bigger bag is not necessarily better. The more room there is in a backpack, the more your child will carry and the heavier the backpack will be."
· Are the straps wide, are they padded and adjustable?
"Non-padded straps are uncomfortable and can dig into your child’s shoulders. Also, two shoulder straps are better than one. Lugging a heavy backpack by one strap can cause a disproportionate shift of weight to one side, leading to neck and muscle spasms, as well as low-back pain."
"Also, the shoulder straps should be adjustable so the backpack can be fitted to your child's body. Straps that are too loose can cause the backpack to dangle uncomfortably and cause spinal misalignment and pain."· Does it have a padded back? This is for comfort
and safety. "A padded back not only provides increased comfort, but also
protects your child from being poked by sharp edges on school supplies
(pencils, rulers, notebooks, etc.) inside the pack."
· Does the pack have several compartments and a waist belt?
"A backpack with individualized compartments helps position the contents most effectively. Make sure that pointy or bulky objects are packed away from the area that will rest on your child's back, and try to place the heaviest items closet to the body."
Parents should monitor
their kids for an onset of pain or other problems relating to carrying a
backpack. If problems occur, seek the advice of a health care professional,
such as a doctor of chiropractic. For more information go to www.acatoday.org.
